Permanent Art Collection
The complete collection of paintings by artist Safeya Binzagr, her artworks are divided into groups, each of which tells an aspect of her journey through her history that started in the sixties.
All the paintings document information about Saudi Arabian’s heritage, including customs, traditions, clothing and daily activities, in addition to traditional women’s garments and old silver jewellery.
Several years were spent in collecting historical information and authenticating their historical sources, the aim having been to reflect authenticity as a general feature in the painting.
Traditional Garments
An original and rare collection of heritage clothing that embodies the different designs of every region of the Kingdom, in addition to head coverings and burqas, and a wide range of old silver jewellery.
By documenting traditional garments, Safeya Binzagr wanted to preserve them in view of the dearth of references depicting their forms, ways of wearing them, and nomenclature. Safeya fully depended on field research to obtain the needed information.
The Studio
The studio of the artist of Mrs. Safeya Binzagr in which she produced most of her artworks, in addition to the workshop rooms which contain the art works of many trainee artists. In addition to all the paintings and sculptures that she acquired from other artists during her artistic journey.
Library
The artist Safeya Binzagr has moved her personal collection of books to the Darat where researchers or anyone who seeks knowledge can make use of it.
The library’s shelves are stacked with a wide selection of educative books, both in Arabic and English, which document the work of great artists and famous literary figures from the East to the West. The Darat also receives periodically important research papers and academic theses that become valuable reference material.
